Bee - Andrena miserabilis - Male
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
April 9, 2006
Size: around 10 mm
I'm a little rusty with my bee IDing.

Moved from Andrena.

yes, Andrena

looks like A. miserabilis

Andrena sp. - male
Combination of overall habitus and sickle-shaped mandibles is diagnostic. Only a part of the males of this large genus have such mandibles. They use them to fight each other, as they are very intolerant when waiting for females.
