Ferdinandea - Ferdinandea croesus - female

Ferdinandea - Ferdinandea croesus - Female
Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
May 30, 2009
nectaring on Prickly Poppy at 5700'

Moved from Ferdinandea.

Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Interesting fly
Pardon my ignorance, but should the spelling be "Ferdinandia", i.e. without the "e" near the end?

I corrected the spelling to Ferdinandea which is how it is listed on BuGuide

Thanks! Nice find.
I don't remember seeing these before, but have commented on some earlier posts. Thanks for the reintroduction with this fine image.
