Triad - Ammophila

Triad - Ammophila
Kennebunk, Maine, USA
July 8, 2004
Need Bug Eric's input on this. On right, sphecid wasp,Ammophila spp;bottom a Toxomerus sp hoverfly; left: Halictid bee,? Lasioglossum. Thanks for the help.

Wasp is Ammophila
The wasp is a Digger, or Thread-waisted Wasp, subfamily Sphecinae, genus Ammophila. See BugGuide Account.

Nifty photo.

V J Hickey...thanks, Patrick.
V J Hickey...thanks, Patrick. I had the wasp and the hoverfly. I am hoping to get Troy and Bug Eric to ID the bee. Vince

No help
I'm no good with the bees, Vince. If I actually had the bee in hand I might feel comfortable giving a rough ID, but it's tough with a photo. I will say my impression is of bee and not a wasp.

Trinity
V J Hickey: Troy...I'll leave it up to you to file this image...bee, wasp,or fly. Bee is fam. Halictidae, prob.Lasioglossum spp; wasp if Ammophila spp; Sphyrcid is Toxomerus spp....thanks to Eric,Patrick

Bee is probably a halictid
My guess is that the bee is probably something in the family Halictidae. Definitely not Nomada.

the bee
V J Hickey: thanks...found a nice image in Cedar Creek....Lasioglossum spp in Halictidae fam.

not sure of bee genus
perhaps a stretch to call it definitely Lasioglossum
