Hyalopsocus sp. - Hyalopsocus - female

Hyalopsocus sp. - Hyalopsocus - Female
San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, USA
November 28, 2010
Size: 5.4 mm
This enormous psocid was captured on Mesquite. To me, the pigmented arms of the subgenital plate don't look exactly like those of H. floridanus but Mockford may correct me on this. The wing pigment and venation pattern is very similar to that of H. floridanus (Fig. 365) but lacks the faint spots where R3 to Cu1a meet the wing margin. This one is definately not H. striatus. I would like to hear Mockford's opinion on this one.

Mockford says:
this one is not floridanus but an undescribed species with a "wide range across the southeastern U. S. and up the coast to Maine".
