Hydrophilidae - Berosus exiguus

Hydrophilidae - Berosus exiguus
Elkland, Dallas County, Missouri, USA
July 18, 2010
Size: 2.8 mm
I'm hoping this Hydrophilid is different from Cercyon, Neoporus dimidiatus, and Berosus ordinatus -- which I have previously submitted. Comparing the markings on the dorsal side, it's sort of a combination of Berosus and Neoporus. If it's one of these . . . sorry to resubmit.

Berosus exiguus (Say)
...based on the small size (less than 3mm). The pictures compare favorably with specimens I have from Arkansas.

sweet...
Berosus taken all the way to species is not something you see every day; thanks, Brady.

Thanks!
It's exciting to have at least four different Hydrophilids from my pond last summer. I will be watching for more next season. Many thanks for the species id's.
