A syrphid, aka hover fly: Eupeodes sp.
A female, likely Eupeodes volucris, the bird hover fly. (Male of the species has a distinctive abdomen; female doesn't, so I can't be certain.)

Hi Ron,
the females of volucris have the Scaeva like markings on the abdomen, which are always separated, strongly curved and more white, while other Eupeodes species have them yellow. That together with the reddish legs are a good indication that this is the common volucris...
