Tenebrionid - Alphitophagus bifasciatus

Tenebrionid - Alphitophagus bifasciatus
Elkland, Dallas County, Missouri, USA
May 16, 2008
Size: 2.4 mm
I have posted two members of Platydema - could this be a different Platydema? It was in my barn, in which has a variety of feed is stored.

Since BG has helped me finish with last summer's "unidentified," I'm reaching back a few years to some others with which I had trouble - hope this is OK.

Maybe Alphitophagus bimacuatus?

Tenebrionid
I didn't find a picture of bimacuatus in BG, but I did find another species of Alphitophagus which looks like mine (bifasciatus), and is the same size. Great clue - thanks!

nice; indeed -- not a barn in Europe without them
'bimacuatus' was, of course, lapsus calami: there's just one species, and Skip meant the right beetle

v: thanks for the gentle way of saying that I screwed up!
And indeed I did.
