Springtail - Entomobrya

Springtail - Entomobrya
In Westwood - elevation 5100ft, Lassen County, California, USA
October 6, 2010
I noticed this tiny insect on the window sill while photographing other insects; managed to get this photo before it went down the edge. It seems a bit hairy.

Hopefully I have placed it correctly. Correction, and/or further ID placement very much appreciated - thanks in advance!

Entomobrya sp.
To distinguish Orchella from Entomobrya check the 4th abdominal segment. In Entomobrya it is distinctly longer than the other abdominal segments, such as in this specimen.

Entomobryidae ?
With antennae distinctly shorter than the body, I'm thinking this is in the Entomobryidae family, possibly in Orchesella genus. Wait for Dr. Janssens to give you a positive ID.

Thank you Robert ...
... for your ID help with this springtail. I browsed through Orchesella a bit - looks promising! Will wait...
