Amphigerontia montivaga (Chapman) - Amphigerontia montivaga - male

Amphigerontia montivaga (Chapman) - Amphigerontia montivaga - Male
San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, USA
December 2, 2010
Size: 4.8 mm
Captured on Juniperus ashei. This one did not fit any species in N. A. Psocoptera. It did fit the description for A. longicauda in "Taxonomy of the species of Amphigerontia of the Rocky Mountains of the U. S. and Canada" (Proc. Entomol. Soc. Wash. 109(3): 700-714, 2007), although I was not able to see the "lateral process of the hypandrium" without dissection. Mockford only lists specimens from Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. I'll ask him about this one.

psocid ID is humbling
Mockford thinks this one is A. montivaga and not A. longicauda. The lateral process of the hypandrium is curled under the abdomen and as far as I know can only be seen when dissected and slide mounted. ASAP I will dissect this specimen and confirm Mockford's suggestion.
