Apidae--possibly Centris? - Centris rhodopus - Male
Borrego Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
October 12, 2008
Size: BL~12 mm
We saw this bee nectaring at Jackass Clover (Wislizenia refracta--Capparaceae) at the Borrego Sink two Octobers ago. All that I can tell of wing venation is that the marginal cell is longer than the submarginal cells. This October we photographed what seems like the same kind of bee at the Mojave National Reserve. One of the photos has wing venation. I will post this second bee next.
