Chaparral Monkey Grasshopper - Morsea californica - female

Chaparral Monkey Grasshopper - Morsea californica - Female
Cuesta Ridge Botanical Area, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
November 13, 2010
Size: ~20mm
Associated with manzanita dominated chaparral. Thinking chaparral monkey grasshopper, Morsea californica.

I would tend to agree
I think this is the only species of the genus in that area. I still tend to think that all of the "species" are really regional variants of one species, as treated by Strohecker, Middlekauff, and Rentz, (In which case they would all be M. californica, but other treatments split them up.

Moved from Grasshoppers.
