Dot-winged Baskettail - Epitheca petechialis - male

Dot-winged Baskettail - Epitheca petechialis - Male
Williamson County, Texas, USA
April 5, 2006
Size: ~1.6 inches long
This dragonfly was perched on the edge of the woods near a meadow. After looking in Abbott's book, I sent images to Dr. Abbott at the University of Texas at Austin, and he confirmed my suggested ID of Dot-winged Baskettail. The dots on the leading edge of the hindwing are clearly visible on the right wing in this image. The face color is yellow, as will show up in the lateral image of the same specimen I'll be submitting in a few minutes. I did not see a guide page for the Dot-winged Baskettail, and that's why I'm sending this in.
