Wolf Spider - Dolomedes albineus

Wolf Spider - Dolomedes albineus
Mt Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, USA
November 11, 2010
Size: 2.5 cm
Is this a Thin-legged Wolf Spider (Pardosa)? Found it outside. I thought that the pattern on the abdomen dorsal view might help with ID. The body was 1 cm long. Total length including legs = 2.5.cm. I greatly appreciate any help.

Not wolf spider.
This is a young fishing spider in the genus Dolomedes. Notice how round the cephalothorax is? Much more elongate in wolf spiders.

Thank you
Your reply is greatly appreciated. Observing and photographing nature is more meaningful when we can know the identity and study up on the habits and habitats of the flora and fauna. Also, we use the Field Guide that you authored with Kenn. It is a great help
