Size: very very small
I was taking photos of a very small slug (anyone know where to get that IDed?) and when I got home found these as the bonus, since I couldn't see it by eye.

Ptenothrix
indeed.
Note that Collembola are 'slime-feeders'. The slug's slime is an excellent protein rich source of food for Collembola.

excellent
information! I had a whole 'colony' of them n top of a slimy Redwood post last night, and got to talk to half a dozen people about what little I knew. My camera allows me to increase image size by 14X so I get to give them a show of what I was looking at. I'll have some new, much better shots to load a bit later.
