alpine tundra Grasshopper, - Aeropedellus clavatus - Female
Trail Ridge Road, Rocky Mountain National Park County, Colorado, USA
July 25, 2010
tundra, above treeline; alpine, alpine tundra, 10,000 + feet elevation;

Female nymph of
Aeropedellus clavatus. Antennae in the adult will be slightly more clubbed, but not like in the males. This is a common species in the northern Plains and Rocky Mountains; it's amazing how few photos of it have been posted so far. This is probably one of the highest ranging species in North America, reported to nearly 14000 ft in Colorado.
