Phileurus truncatus

Phileurus truncatus
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
July 10, 2004
Size: 37 mm
Found at light. Posed. Here the legs are extended as the beetle scuttles across the substrate. Apparently both sexes have horns in this species, so I am not sure of the sex. Length was measured by photographing adjacent to a scale. Location near 35.889282, -78.895236.
