Water strider eggs

Water strider eggs
New Marlborough, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, USA
May 30, 2010
Size: Cluster is 3 mm across
Found on the underside of a floating leaf in a temporary pond. I'm pretty sure these are water strider eggs. I was wondering if anyone recognized this spotty pattern in the embryos, which presumably shows up in the young nymphs as well.

Moved
Moved from True Bugs.

look like water striders
However, to the best of my knowledge (which is, I'll admit, not extensive for this group's eggs), the spots are part of the eggshell and not the bugs inside. It's going to be hard to ID these!

thanks, Chris
