quite small, the redwood needles visible aren't probably over .5 inches long

Looks like a Pristoceuthophilus species - male
I think I will be able to tell which species this is, but need to do a bit of research. I've forgotten how to tell the various species apart, but it has to do with the parts at the rear end, and those are fairly visible in one of your photos here.
