How about a bdellid like this?

Some kind of mite, note 8 legs. Others will tell more.

There are three ridges on the bodies side on both photos, as well as the general shape of the body, and both are found on old wood, mine is redwood, the other is Wash State, I'm assuming Douglas Fir? I didn't note if I could tell the wood composition though.
