In theory, based on date and location,
Gryllus pennsylvanicus
would seem most likely, However, the very long ovipositor is more characteristic of
G. firmus
, which lives in sand areas (but which usually has more brown coloring). This one appears to have a "hairy" pronotum, which is usually not so noticeable in either of these species, but can occur in both.
Anyway, yes, it is certainly a Field Cricket in genus
Gryllus
.

Our soil has a high clay content, certainly not sandy. Next summer I'll see if I can identify them by their song.
