This is Disonycha leptolineat
This is Disonycha leptolineata or possibly the new species i am gathering more specimens for describing. Is the color in this photo accurate or faded?

John, this insect might be slightly faded, but usually I photograph a week or so after pinning. I would love to help, but this is the only photo I have. No live photos. Thanks for the ID confirmation.

If you want more specimens of D. leptolineata look for it on Itea virginica in wet areas. I did a paper on its life history in Insecta Mundi. There is a species found in the turkey oak - long leaf pine habitat of central Florida that looks just like this specimen in coloration that I am sure is a new species or abbreviata.

This is probably in the genus Disonycha, one of the "flea beetles," named for their ability to jump with those fat hind legs:-)

For now just at the genus level although it looks just like this one (below)to my untrained eye - given the amount of discussion on the image below, I don't want to have to defend a specific epithet!
