Spider -
Amaurobius ferox
Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
April 12, 2006
Size: approx. 1 1/2 in.
We are curious about this spider. We have dogs. Should we be worried?? The markings on the back look almost like a skull.

Colorado?
Can you please tell me the source of the remark on the Info tab that mentions A. ferox may be found in WA and CO? We got a post on Reddit I suspect is one in Denver. I will ask them to post it to bugguide if they can get a better pic. But I was curious about previous records in CO, since this is otherwise a northeastern species. Thanks.
