Wondering what criteria you used to distinguish this from Trox foveicollis, an extremely similar species that can usually only be separated via examination of male genitalia.

this is either hamatus, foveicollis or spinulosus. I am leaning towards hamatus, but cannot confirm without seeing legs or having specimen in-hand.

I goofed.
I inadvertantly replaced the original image. I was going to frass it, not replace it. I caught the beetle and now have closer photos than the ones at the black light.
