Mandibles do not appear sufficiently elongated
in the close-up to justify
Chlaenius emarginatus
. In retrospect also, the antennae show 3rd segment not significantly elongated relative to the 4th segment. This combination of image interpretations (uncertain) would weigh in favor of
C. tricolor
.
