Crab Spider - female

Crab Spider - Female
Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, USA
October 1, 2010
Could this be Misumena vatia - Goldenrod Crab Spider, or Misumenoides formosipes - Whitebanded Crab Spider? I'm having a hard time telling these two species apart, even with the excellent descriptions on the info pages.

Does not look to be Misumenoides.
Not completely sure, but it doesn't look to be Mecaphesa either. So that does leave it as Misumena.

Misumena
Thanks! Should I move this to the species page? I know it's a lousy image, but it would be a data point for my state.

We're the wrong folks to ask since we don't
value data points. We are much more interested in high quality images. Leave it here for a while and see what others suggest for you. Meanwhile make plans for next year to get high quality images that you can use for data points!
