Hemiscolopendra marginata

Hemiscolopendra marginata
Deer Park, Texas, USA
April 2, 2006
Size: 3"
Gorgeous centipede found in several southern states. This particular specimen was collected for me by a friend in Deer Park, TX. Found under rotten plywood with several other specimens.

Hemiscolopendra marginata
It is difficult to distinguish from a picture like this Scolopendra viridis Say, 1821 from Hemiscolopendra marginata (Say, 1821). However, I believe this is the latter, which occurs in Texas as far west as Presidio Co., west of Big Bend Nat. Pk.

Sweet
Thats a sweet bug!
