unidentified damsel fly--sphagnum sprite? - Nehalennia irene - male

unidentified damsel fly--sphagnum sprite? - Nehalennia irene - Male
Stonington; Gooseberry Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA
June 19, 2010
Size: ~1.5-2"
The closest I could come to an ID was sphagnum sprite female; this was photographed on a ~5 acre island in Maine's Merchant Row, offshore of Stonington. It was in a small wet depression upon the island, with some Sphagnum sp. moss; there was no extensive bog or wetland upon the island, however. Any guesses?

We would suggest male Sedge Sprite
It looks like secondary genitalia under abdomen segment 2, and we think you would see the ovipositor if this were a female.

Sedge Sprite
Looks like a Sedge Sprite, Nehalennia irene, male. There is a small dark area at the base of segment 10.
