Huge swarm of these down by the Susquehanna River bank at night. They are able to fold their wings, but they sure look like mayflies rather than stoneflies or somesuch. Can they be IDed to species or genus?

I don't think they're "folding" their wings...
I think you caught them in the process of emerging from the subimago stage (it looks to me as if the wings are still "caught" in the old exoskeleton).
