Found under pine bark,looks like a Melanotus,does coloration "reddish vs. brown"
have any bearing on species id within the Melanotus genus?Id appreciated.

This is as far as I can take it without specimen in-hand, but looking at pronotal punctation, I am tentatively leaning towards M. communis (proper).

 
Thanks Blaine,will try and find a few more to send
along with this one,I can see now that when it warms up some I got
to try other locations,methods if I intend to add new species.
