ID Question
Robert - Thank you for your recent submissions. Really good stuff!

I am not sure if you are stating an ID or suggesting one in the title of your submissions. If you know the ID, you are welcome to move the image to the species page and, if one does not exist, request one to be created in the forums section here.

I agree that this is Choristoneura and that this may be lambertiana. I have moved all your tort images to Tortricidae so that Jason Dombroskie will see them and comment. BugGuide has typically been placing images of this species and closely related species in Choristoneura fumiferana group. This complex is still being worked out and we expect changes. For a better understanding of where are with this group, take a look at Lisa Margaret Lumley's thesis here. More info can be gotten at the Info page here.

If you have identified this to species with some degree of confidence, please respond and I will make a page for it. Include how the ID was was made so I can include it on the species Info page.

Thanks for the info Steve. I
Thanks for the info Steve. I am not entirely sure what I'm doing. :-)
As I keyed out my photos over the last couple years, I noticed that I have about 100 species that BugGuide doesn't have. For the most part, these are the photos that I submitted. (I also submitted a couple photos of existing BugGuide species where I thought my photo added something to the existing photos.)

My identifications are based on internet images (primarily MPG and Noctuidae of Western Canada), and Powell and Opler's "Moths of Western North America." I only submitted photos that I am reasonably confident of the ID.

I just checked the link you provided for requesting that a species page be created. I believe that this is the next step for most of my remaining submittals.

Thanks for your help Steve.

OK
If you know the ID put them directly where they go. If you are not sure, place them in Moths or in the appropriate family and add something like "I think" or a question mark so we know it's a guess. And again, thanks for the contribution of your images. Keep 'em coming.
