Stem Borer in September - Languria

Stem Borer in September - Languria
Caroline County, Maryland, USA
September 7, 2010
Size: about 10mm
This is the same individual, reared at my office, on September 7 (ten days later). Still alive when this photo was taken, unfortunately he never developed beyond this point. Does anyone have sawfly rearing tips for me?

Can you tell if this is the same species of sawfly that I saw sitting on a lupine leaf (Photo#483388) in June of 2009?

Beetle
This is a lizard beetle, see more here. There is a species that is a stem borer of clovers, and I'd assume the others have similar stem-boring habits.

Lizard Beetle
Thanks, Brad! As soon as I hit your link I could see the similarities, even though my specimen did not mature. Can't wait to hit the library and read up on Lizard Beetles...

Languria, sure
Brad's right, this is a beetle, not a sawfly
