This tribe is based on the traditional classification of Alexander.
The flies of this group with 12 flagellomeres belong to the traditional genus Limonia, in modern times split into countless genera and subgenera. In the continental USA and Canada these include
Achyrolimonia - one species, A. neonebulosa, recently introduced (see Brodo et al., Fly Times 68)
Atypophthalmus - one unidentified species, recently introduced (see Brodo et al., Fly Times 68)
Dicranomyia - many species in many subgenera
Discobola - three species
Geranomyia - over 10 species
Limonia - over 10 species
Metalimnobia - over 10 species
