This was shot outside, but I think it's a House Centipede - Scutigera sp., but I'd never seen one that had purple in its' coloration. Is this a correct ID, and is the coloration due to age - i.e., it's a young specimen, or is it a completely different species? Thanks.

Yes, I think you have a house centipede. It should have 15 pairs of legs, but yours seems to have lost quite a few. Yours has the well-developed eyes; very long, banded legs, and three darkish stripes down the back typical of the species.
