Serropalpus - Serropalpus substriatus

Serropalpus - Serropalpus substriatus
Sandia Mnts, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
July 28, 2010
Size: 15 mm
I was looking around at fallen logs at night at 11500' elev with a flashlight and found lots of these running around on dead White Fir (Abies concolor). The size varies a lot, and this is one of the big ones. I could guess that this is S. substriatus based on D&A, but I don't have Mank, 1939, and not sure we would trust it anyway.

nice; are you in touch with Darren yet?
i remember him ask for your e-address

yes
Darren and I have been chatting about what specimens we need to exchange. I expect we will have a lot of useful collaborations. I did not run this Serropalpus past him but simply asked him to check my collection database of his favorite families. You might check if he has any doubts about it or can name the species.
