eyed click beetle
we found this beetle at our house in Sarasota ,Fl. good thing the guide has pictures to help identify these new bugs we find in Florida. Have one more to identify , it is on our citrus tree.

eyed click beetle range?
I just discovered one at our cabin last night in Garden Valley Idaho. Had to search for it on this site, but I'm discovering most sightings occur in Midwest or Eastern States. Is Idaho a normal range for these? I'd never seen one before - after he jumped and clicked twice and scared the bejesus out of me, he played dead and I was able to get the camera and get a few photos.

Alaus oculatus in Pennsylvania
Found one at work today in Stroudsburg Pennsylvania. Had no idea what it was so it went in a bottle till I got home and found this site.

I was just sitting on my couch minding my own business reading when my dad and neighbor walks in and places something infront of me then my neighbor (who is 12) kept poking the thing with a stick saying "watch it jump watch it jump". I didnt know what it was till it fliped over then relised it was some sort of bug. My dad asked me to look it up and find out what type it was. We came to this site and it was helpful considering we only knew what the body looked liked. (The clicking beelte at my home had some parts missing such as his head and legs.)

Found one in my home in VA
The Click Beetle I found wasn't moving but it sure was creepy with its markings. I thought it was staring at me! I had to gently sweep it outside as it seemed to have died in my home. *chills*, I easily found your picture and link. Thanks for taking a great picture! Its the first time I haven't had to ask for an ID request! :)

Way cool site.
Found a Click Beetle in my driveway tonight and posted it on my Face Book profile noting that I had no idea what it was.Within 10 minutes I had 2 answers and a link to this site. Big fun. I love this site.Living in Florida I have been lost on identifying many insects over the years. Not any longer.TY BugGuide !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eyed Click Beetle
My 4 year old son found one of these on our wood pile today. We are in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. The name is a natural, as my son came in to show me his "click beetle" he said.

Click Beetle
Thanks for the photo, looks exactly like the one I took last summer only I had no idea what it was. We recently moved to Southern VA and I have literally been on a permanent nature walk over my 2 acres ever since. I will certainly be checking back here as I discover more of the outside life.

click beetle
We just found one of the beetles outside the front door of our business in downtown Hebron, Nebraska. Thanks to the great picture I was able to identify it. Are they harmless? I wonder how it got here.

Spotted Click On Beach
I was camping on the beach near Corpus Cristi and had a camp fire where two of these beetles ran out of drift wood I had just thrown onto the fire.

Thanks for sending In the picture of this Huge beetle. Thanks to you, when my boys brought me this great big beetle and said, "Mom, what kind of insect is this?", I was able to look it up on this wonderful site, and say, "Boys, it's a Click Beetle.

(They said that is what they already called it because of the loud clicking sound it made!)

Found flying in our yard in Sandy Hook, Goochland CO., VA.
