Chrysopilus snipe! - Chrysopilus connexus

Chrysopilus snipe! - Chrysopilus connexus
North of Griffy Lake, Monroe County, Indiana, USA
May 27, 2010
Size: larger than a house fly
I am continually dazzled by this species, whatever it is. They are quite charismatic and fairly abundant at the edge of the woods at the right time of year, congregating and mating in highly visible spots.

I'm pretty sure it's some species of snipe, but i can't determine which.

Any snipe fan out there who might could shed some light?

pls add sighting date and move to the genus page for expert attention

Date
Good tip. Thanks. I'll try to figure out the date on the file, and be more mindful of my records.

Date
The date can often be VERY useful in helping to identify a particular species. Click on the "edit" tab underneath your image to add the date the photo was taken, then "submit".

Moving the file?
How do I move a file?

Copied from the "Help" tab
How do I move an image from "ID Request" to the guide, to another spot in the guide, or to "Frass"?

First, tag all the images that you want to move to a particular spot. They will appear to the left of the page to remind you what's been tagged. Then browse to the desired spot and you should see a "move tagged images" link. For the guide, be sure to click the "images" tab just like you would to submit an image at that spot.

Thanks
Quite helpful!
