Ward Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York, USA
June 27, 2010
Collected by Harry Zirlin at a Cerceris fumipennis colony in Ward Pound Ridge, NY. The beetle was dropped by one of the wasps.

Just looking for ID as I know next to nothing abut Buprestidae. Feel free to frass.

Moved
Moved from Chrysobothris.

Moved to Chrysobothris
Moved from Metallic Wood-boring Beetles.

Feel free to frass.

Chrysobothris azurea?
Chrysobothris azurea?

Chrysobothris, a diff. sp.
why, why those oblique angles? they make identification so much more difficult...

Answer
All these images were cropped from 6 shots I took rapid fire.

Harry Zirlin showed us the beetles he had collected that day on box top. I was leading a bird club field trip that day and only had time to whip off a few shots.

Are they of any value to the Guide or should I frass them?

i see...
let our bup gang work on them first, Steve.
i'm sure at least some will be kept
it really pains me to see this amazing sample of Cerceris prey denied attention it deserves... hope Harry kept the stuff

He Did
I just sent you an email so be on the look out for it. Harry says he's got about 25 species.
