I would really like to know what this lil guy is .. and about his lil stinger/sucker thingy there .. is it a stinger or a sucker ??.. i got this pic while he was in mid air still flying ..

That's a nice picture of a Bee Fly. :) I haven't seen one of those yet, but I hope to this summer.

BeeFly - Bombylius major, but you could have a different species out west there. Images in the guide at . That's his "drinking straw" you see! Looks like spring is finally coming to the LaGrande/Union valley.

he sure was a cool lil guys .. seen a few of them yesterday .. and it jsut started warming up here and things are starting to fly/buzz around .. thanks for the ID on him ...

Bombylius major
Apparently the wing pattern is unique to that species--see guide page, and it is widespread, being found in much of North America, and, I believe, even in Eurasia.
