Glyphonyx 01 - Glyphonyx brevistylus

Glyphonyx 01 - Glyphonyx brevistylus
Hancock County, Indiana, USA
July 15, 2010
Size: ~ 4.75 mm
Glyphonyx sp.; collected at UV light.

Moved from Glyphonyx.

This species apparently has distinct genitilia. But, the color of the elytral apex and lateral sides being darker is also considered a key feature (most other Glyphonyx have the elytral sutural area darkened). The characters of the frontal carina and prosternal spine are c/w this species.

A new one for BG!

I'll have to watch for more.

because I do not have one yet :) Smith and Blasbaugh (1984) record it from AR and TX, but IN isnt out of the range of possibility.

You do now!!
You do now!!

nice additions...
looks like you have multiple spp. of Glyphonyx in your images.

I'll be sending these along for you to look at when I get your stuff together.

Hooked on Gly-phonics
