Many thanks
I had never seen an Oedemerid before, so thanks to those that helped iron this on out.

Oedemeridae: Calopus angustatus
Phillip is correct, it is Calopus angustatus. We have a number of specimens from NH and ME that look just like this.

spelling
I noticed you're (and others) spelling; Calopus angustatus, I mostly see it Calopus angustus (
nomina nearctica
) - do you know which is correct? It will take me some time to dig up the LeConte reprints to verify.

Correct spelling.
According to American Beetles (Arnett et al.) it is Calopus angustus. Wish I could figure out how to erase my incorrect spelling.

try this ....
I'm thinking
Oedemeridae
like
http://www.zin.ru/Animalia/Coleoptera/eng/calopus.htm
or the even more Cerambycid looking
http://www.hlasek.com/foto/calopus_serraticornis_6674.jpg
We have only the one sp. of Calopus; C. angustus LeConte 1851 and its known from British Columbia -
http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/hfd/library/FIA/2005/FIA2005MR118b.pdf
on page 78, so maybe ...
The only other thing that comes close (to me anyway) is Stenotrachelidae (=Cephaloidae)
http://www.zin.ru/Animalia/Coleoptera/images/nemsemkm.jpg
, but there are a couple of characters that just don't match.
