Stumped. Odd, very distinct beetle. Family? Anything? - Megacerus discoidus Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA July 2, 2010 Size: 2-3mm
From a sweep net sample in an urban garden within Cleveland. I snapped this photo quickly as I was leaving the lab, haven't had a chance to look at a key while I had the specimen in front of me so I have been poking around with just this image and I'm a bit confused. It looks like an amalgamation of parts from various groups and I imagine once you know what it is it's not easily forgotten.
