Water Strider eating a Syrphid Fly - Aquarius remigis

Water Strider eating a Syrphid Fly - Aquarius remigis

That syrphid looks interesting. Now I wish I had rescued it. Is there enough showing to place the fly to genus?

Moved
Moved from Gerris.

Probably tribe Syrphini
That's based on the bronze area on the thorax and the striped abdomen. Next step, genus likely Eupeodes or Syrphus, and there it ends.

That does looks like Syrphini
I'm satisfied with that identification from this picture. It shows the strider ok, but the fly isn't so good.
