Conoderus pictus

Size: 4.0mm
Came to a lighted sheet. I notice that there is tremendous variation in color/patterns on
this species, so after trying to key it out and comparing to the guide pages I hope this
is just a nice and interesting color variation to the genus. Figure Blaine can correct me
if I didn't get it right. Sure a pretty beetle! Let me know if other shots are needed.

Conoderus bellus
Interesting, I have seen several specimens from FL where the elytral maculae are broken (as shown here). I hope this is one you will be sending, Bruce. I'd like to do a review of Conoderus and Heteroderes in North America and am curious if this pronotal coloring is a geographic variant, an undescribed subspecies or possibly a new species.

Variations
That sounds interesting. I will add it to the package. I have two
others from here and the pronotal maculae are unbroken, and do not
meet at the base like they do with this fellow, both are slightly
darker also. They are on glue boards, so if you want them how is the
best way to add them to the box????

glue boards?
you mean points? they are mounted? if so, remove the board from the pin and pack as the others. Or put them pinned in a little box. whatever works for you that protects the specimen.
