Holometabolous metamorphosis

Holometabolous metamorphosis
Also known as complete metamorphosis. Insects that undergo holometabolous metamorphosis emerge from the egg as worm-like larvae. After growing and completing several molts as immatures, they enter the pupal stage. In the pupa, tissues are completely rearranged so that the adult that emerges usually looks nothing like the larvae.
