Size is with legs extended. Found at 34 degrees in the woods on snow.

Fishing Spider
Probably Dolomedes tenebrosus. They are large but harmless.

Spider measurements are usually taken body only... tip of head to end of abdomen. These spiders can measure about 25 mm as an adult, so I assume yours must be pretty young if you measured it with legs included.
