Size: the body was 1 inch
this is the spider we found on our ceiling in May 2010 in Sooke BC on Vancouver Island, I would love to know what kind of spider it is, and if it is dangerous. We caught it and let it go.

It's not dangerous. I'll get back to it on ID, I have to think about it a little while.

good to know it isn't dangerous, it has found a nice cozy home underneath our porch! It has very strong webbing and it jumps when bothered..as my husband found out..lol..

 
Hacklemesh Weavers (Amaurobiidae)
of some kind I guess. Maybe one of the Amaurobius or Callobius. They seem to have that same hairy underside of the legs besides having similar coloring and eyes.
