I took this picture at the Laurentian Forestry Centre here in Quebec City. They have many such specimen in their collection. I used the equipment in the adjacent lab and I'm afraid that the colors went a little awry. This insect has violaceus lustre but no red and yellow as in the pictures. We are however able to see nice details.
According to Bousquet (2010) and Larochelle (1975) two subspecies are recognized; this is one of them.
There is no collector name on the label. These were collected as part of programs aimed at describing biodiversity.
