Cryptolestes punctatus - Middleburg, Black Creek Ravines Conservation Area, Clay County, Florida, USA January 31, 2011 Size: 1.4mm
Poor photo, but the best I could do. Keyed out using "The Flat Bark Beetles of Florida
(Coleoptera:Silvanidae, Passandridae, Laemophloeidae by Mike Thomas) to Cryptolestes
and @ 40x, the secondary sublateral line can be seen to diverge posteriorly from the
sublateral line and attain the basal angle, so, I went with C. punctatus over C.
unicornis. I will take to FSCA next week for Mike to comfirm or revise. If correct,
will need a new guide page.
