Phenolia - Phenolia grossa

Phenolia - Phenolia grossa
Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 25, 2010
Size: 7.6mm
Collected at light trap. This keys out using (1) to Lobiopa or Amphotis,
depending on how costate the elytra is (I'm confused). There are two rows of small
marginal spines on both mid and hind tibiae. As far as I could tell it has a t:5-5-5
formula (assuming pseudotarsi where I cannot see or count a small one). I slightly
overexposed the shots to highlight the carina and setae on the elytra. Could not
find a checklist of PA beetles. Sure would like some help on this one. Still have about
48 Nit's to go, and having trouble with them all. Thanks

suggest checking the family info page(1) and two very helpful sources linked there(2)(3) -- you will have no problem ID'ing eastern nits w/o going thru the whole keying ordeal

Moved from Nitidulinae.
