Yellow & Black Bee for ID? - Melecta separata - female

Yellow & Black Bee for ID? - Melecta separata - Female
Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 11, 2010
This bee (photographed on a cool morning and acting quite sluggish) was found near a known grouping of Anthophora pacifica nests. It is a terrible photo and I only took this one shot. I'm primarily posting this on the off chance that it may be the same species recently photographed by Nancy Hamlett in the exact same location:

Any help with either ID would be greatly appreciated!

Moved from Melecta.

Melecta (Melecta)
looks like an M. separata callura female, but I'm not certain

Oh! How interesting!!
Nancy, Hartmut and I will be certain to keep our eyes out for this one again and hopefully (between the three of us) come up with some better images for you to look at. Thanks again, John!

Now, this explains
why they were sitting near the Anthophora pacifica burrows.
